What has America come to?

Where at your job you get fired for acting on your sense of justice. Why I must ask should two Best Buy employees are fired for tackling a shoplifter that later cuts the manager of the store. This is because Best Buy's policy to no longer pursue a shoplifter after he/her has left the shop. Yes they have broken their policy but even 3 years of loyalty and commitment to a company is not enough to stay employed.

This is not right, when the shoplifter has more rights then you at the store you work in. What would happen if they had just left the shoplifter running, would that mean they would be fired anyway for not keeping care over the merchandise.Why in America, a criminal can sue the company when a minute earlier he/she was breaking the rules.
